grace“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith – and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God.”

God’s grace is the free gift of God’s love given to every person.  It is the mark of God’s favor for us.  Favor is an attitude of approval.  God created each one of us and, therefore, God approves of us as created beings. God gives us this favor or grace even though we don’t deserve it. We don’t deserve it because we so often find ourselves doing things or saying things that are outside the boundaries of God’s desire for our lives.

The truth is that God knew everything about you before you were born. Psalm 139 says God knit you together in your mother’s womb.  God has always known you and still knows you better than you know yourself.   God knows everything you are doing and everything you are thinking about doing. God watches S you make choices and hopes you choose wisely. We. You miss the mark, God walks with you through whatever consequences come from the choices you make.  The good news is – God loves you anyway!  There is nothing you can do to earn God’s grace and there is absolutely nothing you can do to God’s love.  “Nothing and nobody can separate you from the love of God in Christ Jesus.” (Acts 2:38)

As God created you he called all the angels over and said, “Look at this one, isn’t she awesome?  This one is my favorite!”  Of course, the angels said, “That’s what you said about the other 60 billion of them!”  But God knows that each one of us is unique and so he gives us his grace, his love, his favor.  Just like with any parent, each child is the favorite because each one is unique and loved in a special way.  So, today, remember that you are God’s favorite!  Amen.
